AUDITION INFORMATION
Auditions for Teen and Senior Company members will in the Spring. Mini and Junior Company members will be chosen in mid July after being observed in their summer classes beginning June 8th. Those selected are required to participate in a two week company intensive the last two weeks of July where guest intructors are brought in to teach technique and competition choreography for the upcoming year. Tari's Company consists of 48 members and four groups, Mini, Junior, Teen, and Senior, ranging from ages 8 to 18. Company members were invited to join the company after auditioning in the 2009 summer session. They attended a two week company intensive the last two weeks of July were guest instructors Sonya Tayeh, Colby Shinn, Gus Carr, Jason Williams, as well as Mrs. Tari and our instructos, worked with them on technique and competition choreography. They attended and competed and several dance competitions and conventions throughout the year receiving many awards. In January 2010, they attended and competed in the JUMP Dance Convention in Houston, and in MArch they attended and competed at the LA Dance Magic Convention here in Baton Rouge and NUVO in Mobile, Alabama.
There are 12 Mini Company members. They competed a Jazz routine Hey Baby which won Gold and 2nd Place, Best of Jump at JUMP in Houston, 1st Place Platinum at LADM, and 3rd Place Mini Line at Nuvo.
Tari's Junior Company, consisting of 17 dancers, competed together with the Mini Company in two dances this year. Sancastle Disco receiving 1st Place, Best of Jump *Highest Scoring Jazz at JUMP, 1st Place Platinum at LADM, and 3rd Place Junior Production at NUVO. Swag, a Hip Hop Routine, received Gold and 2nd Place at JUMP, Best Overall Performance at LADM and 2nd Place Junior Production at NUVO.
The Junior members won for their performance, Eyes on Fire, a lyrical routine received 2nd Place and Gold at JUMP, 1st Place Platinum at LADM, and 3rd Place Extended Line at NUVO.
Tari's Teen Company consists of 10 members. They competed with a Jazz dance, Hot and Cold, which received Gold at Jump and 2nd Place High Gold at LADM. Their Lyrical dance, This Is Love, received Gold at JUMP and 1st Place Platinum at LADM.
Tari's Senior Company consists of 9 members. They competed with a Jazz Dance, Sincerely Jane, which received High Gold at JUMP, 1st Place Plantinum at LADM and 1st Place Teen Nu Group at NUVO. They also cometed with a lyrical dance, Never Felt This Way, which received High Gold at JUMP, 1st Place Platinum at LADM, and 2nd Place Teen Group at NUVO. The Teen and Senior Company members competed together a Jazz Dance called Amazonas, and received High Gold 1st Place, Best of JUMP and Highest Scoring Jazz at JUMP Convention, 1st Place Platinum at LADM, and 1st Place Teen Extended Line at NUVO.
Throughout the year, company members audition for scholarships at the conventions attended. This year, 30 students were selected as schloarship finalists and winners. Congratulations to the company for a successful year.
