Alisha Andrepont
Alisha Andrepont has been training as a dancer for almost 20 years and has a very strong background in classical ballet. This technical training has aided her development in other styles, including Graham and Horton modern techniques, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Pom. She studied at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), Images Dance Studio, and The Dance Experience. At NOCCA, she was under the tutelage of Jan Miller, former professional dancer with the American Ballet Theater and Joffery Ballet, as well as Miguel Lopez, former professional modern dancer and instructor at the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. In 2002, she was honored to be accepted to study at the Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program. She has taken classes from many professional instructors, including Elisa Monte, Risa Steinberg, Marty Kudelka, and Denise Jefferson of Alvin Ailey. She has also taken classes by the Ballet Russes and Shapiro and Smith modern company. In 2003, as a member of the NOCCA dance ensemble, Alisha was privileged to be a part of a modern dance piece created by Robert Battle, with original music by jazz musician Nicholas Payton. She was also a featured dancer in the opera “Dawn in the Floating City.” Upon graduation, Alisha was accepted into several prestigious college dance programs, however, decided to attend LSU to study Apparel Merchandising. While at LSU, she has choreographed for many high school and junior high dance teams. She has served as the co-captain of and a choreographer for the LSU Tiger Girls, and is currently their assistant coach.
